Creation has a much more intimate appeal when you are creating works based on your familiars. My cat has always been a consistency in a chaotic life, bringing me joy whenever I needed it most. Much like a high school best friend, Ninja has been there for me through bad decisions, major life changes, gut-wrenching breakups, intense celebrations, and has patiently kept my house full of fur any time I go on globetrotting pilgrimages to remote Buddhist temples. We have sat side by side through my art life and wanderlust, as Ninja occasionally dips a paw into to an otherwise perfect pour of gel medium.
